Sustainable dream

My wife and I want to simplify our life and become as sustainable as possible. We are looking for a few acres 40 minutes or so from Kansas City, some place where we can grow some food and become familiar with the locals who purvey their home grown livestock that aren’t raised in a four by four pen living on top of one another. It’s a lot to ask from a couple from the city (albeit a smaller city) to forget about convenience and strive for sustainability.
